Accessibility Statement

What we have done to make this site usable for everyone, where we know it still falls short, and the ways to reach Sophie that do not involve the website at all.

Our commitment

Caldwell Psychic wants everyone to be able to read these pages and book a session, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, published by the W3C at https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG22/.

Aiming is the honest word. The site has not been through a formal third-party audit, so we do not claim full conformance. We claim that accessibility was designed in from the start and that we fix what we hear about.

What we have built in

The site was built with a set of practical measures rather than an overlay widget. Each one addresses a barrier that the US Department of Justice names in its guidance on web accessibility and the ADA: poor contrast, information carried by color alone, missing alt text, unlabelled forms and mouse-only navigation.

  • Semantic headings. Every page has one H1 and a heading structure you can navigate with a screen reader, in order, without gaps.
  • Alt text on images. Photographs carry descriptive alternative text, and decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
  • Keyboard navigation. The menu, links, buttons and form fields can all be reached and operated with the Tab and Enter keys, and the focus indicator stays visible as you move.
  • Color contrast. The dark theme was built with text and background combinations chosen to stay readable, and no instruction relies on color alone.
  • Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, animations and transitions are turned down accordingly.
  • Labelled form fields. Every field on the booking and contact forms has a visible label, and errors are described in words rather than by turning a box red.
  • Readable text. Text can be zoomed in your browser without the layout breaking or content disappearing.

Known limitations

Some parts of the site are not ours to fix, and it is more useful to say so than to leave you guessing.

  • The embedded Google Map. The contact page embeds a map from Google. Its controls and labels are Google's, and we cannot change how they behave with a screen reader or a keyboard. The address and written directions on the same page do not depend on it.
  • Other third-party content. Links out to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and the reference sources cited on some pages lead to sites we do not control, each with its own accessibility standard.
  • Older material. Pages and images carried over from the previous site are being reviewed, and anything that falls short is corrected as it is found.

If the website is in your way, skip it

You never have to use this website to book a reading. Every service on the services page can be arranged by phone or email, and those routes get the same attention as a form submission.

  • Phone. Call (862) 273-9586 and speak to Sophie directly. This is also the fastest way to check today's times.
  • Email. Write to PsychicConsultations@icloud.com with the reading you want and two or three times that suit you.
  • Remote sessions. A phone or video reading can remove travel from the equation entirely, and it works the same way as a session in the reading room.

If you need information from a page in another format, ask and we will read it to you over the phone or send it as plain text.

Getting into the reading room

The reading room is at 97 Roseland Ave, Door 101, in Caldwell. Please call ahead on (862) 273-9586 and we will talk through access to the reading room, including the entrance, the route from where you park, and anything you need in the room itself.

We would rather have that conversation in advance than have you arrive and find a problem. Ask for parking directions at the same time, and tell us if a particular time of day, a longer appointment or a break partway through would make the session work better for you. Telling us about a problem

If something on this site does not work for you, we want to know. A short description is enough: the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what happened instead. If you know your browser and any assistive technology you were using, that helps us reproduce it.

This statement is reviewed when the site changes in a meaningful way, and at least once a year. The date above shows the last review.
